Tribute

Clifton Graham, 63, of Mont Belvieu, Texas, went to be with our Lord and Saviour on January 4, 2021. He was born on September 21, 1957 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the late Richard F. Graham and Shirley Mae Barbay Graham. Clifton grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he graduated from Tara High School in 1975. In 1979, Clifton followed the love of his life, Charlene, to Baytown, Texas. They began dating when Clifton was 16 and Charlene was 12. They were married on January 4, 1980. Clifton met our Lord on their 41st Wedding Anniversary. In 1979, Clifton began working as a contracted millwright at Brown and Root in Baytown, Texas. From the onset of his millwright position as a contractor at Brown and Root, he remained an integral part and leading role in the transformation of Brown and Root through owners Mobay, Miles, and Bayer. In 1995, Bayer bought Miles in Baytown, Texas and Clifton was transferred and promoted to an employee of Bayer via transfer to Middleton, Virginia. In 1998, he was transferred back to Bayer in Baytown and promoted as Reliability Maintenance Superintendent for Bayer. He was a natural leader and always saw the importance of each person’s responsibility and contribution to the chain of workers. He had a close-knit group of coworkers who he made sure were on his team. He was never pompous or felt above others simply because of his title; he always approached his work and team from the standpoint that every voice, every action, every dispute, and merit would be given consideration for the interest of all. He served as Reliability Maintenance Superintendent at Bayer until 2012.
Clifton’s greatest passion in life was his large, loving family - all the way from his wife, daughters, and granddaughters to extended family. He was a very loving, devoted and selfless husband and father. He enjoyed playing and spending time with his granddaughters, with whom he had a special and unbreakable bond. He also enjoyed traveling to visit family in Louisiana. Clifton had a passion for genealogy and did extensive research on his family’s genealogy. Clifton had a mild and inviting disposition that allowed anybody to approach him. He always made sure to communicate at any level necessary to reach someone; he was not above anyone and he treated everyone as an equal. Clifton could always light up a room when he entered. He had a humor about him that could reach anyone. He never met a stranger.
Clifton is survived by his wife, Charlene Graham, of Mont Belvieu, Texas; his daughter, Emily Sharp and her husband, Josh, and their 3 daughters - his 3 granddaughters, Annaliese, Gracelyn, and Kearstin and her son, Atticus - his great-grandson of Beaumont, Texas; his daughter, Ashley Van Den Berg and her husband, Jonathan ,of Mont Belvieu, Texas/Sandbaai South Africa; his brother, Dennis Graham and wife, Sherri, of Baytown, Texas; his sister, Colleen Kron and husband Paul of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his brother, John Graham of  Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his sister, Theresa Detillier and husband Don of La Place, Louisiana; his brother, Henry Graham and wife Connie of Tucson, Arizona; his brother, Andrew Graham and wife Pam of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his brother, Michael Graham and wife Carolyn of Houston, Texas; 21 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews; cousins; and many loving relatives and friends.
