Elisabeth Louise Dobbins, 85, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2019. She was born on February 20, 1934 in Muskegon, Michigan, to Lloyd H. Holdeman and Vivian Louise Cottingham. She was a pre-k teacher for many years and truly enjoyed teaching her students. Elisabeth was strong in her faith and loved her church family. Throughout her life, Liz enjoyed spending time with her many friends and traveling with her husband Jim. She dearly loved her family and was an enthusiastic fan during all of their activities. Jim and Liz were sponsors for the Baytown Little Theater. Elisabeth was also a founding director for the Red Hat Society of Baytown. She will be remembered most for her generosity, encouragement, and thoughtfulness. Liz’s dedication to these qualities will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Vivian Holdeman; brothers, John Holdeman and Stephen Holdeman; sisters, Mary Ann Gorham and Laura Hartman; son, James Norman Dobbins; and great-granddaughter, Levi Dawn Mangum.
Elisabeth is survived by husband of 61 years, James “Jimmie” Dobbins; brother, David Holdeman; daughter, Laura Mangum and husband Joe; granddaughter, Jennifer Ellisor and husband Russell of Crosby, TX; grandson, Joe Mangum III and wife Jackie of Crosby, TX; grandson, Michael Mangum of Crosby, TX; 7 great grandkids; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Sterling White Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am.
