Irene Eleonore (Simmet) Cargill
March 17, 1942 ~ January 24, 2024 (age 81) 81 Years Old
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Eleonore Cargill our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She passed away at the age of 82 on January 24, 2024, with her two sons by her side.
Irene was born on March 17th 1942 to Franz and Johanna Simmet along with her older brother and sister, Franz, and Elfriede. Irene was raised in a small town called Hofkichen Germany which is about 120 clicks outside of Munich. In 1963 at the early age of 21, she met her first true love, Paul Cargill Sr., while being based there with the US Army and shortly after, they became married. Paul and Irene lived in Germany just long enough to have their first son, Paul Jr.. Not long after, Paul and Irene moved to the states and settled down in Houston where they had their second son Kenneth. Soon after that they bought a brand-new home in Channelview TX. where they settled down to raise their two boys.
Irene really loved her children and was very involved in everything they did. While being a stay-at-home mom for many years, in between raising two boys, PTA meetings and church, along with some part time jobs she always felt the need to do her own thing. She decided it was time to become self employed as a salesperson selling Avon Products door to door. This is where she discovered her passion for selling. Because of her good looks, her feisty attitude, and her fashion sense, along with a strong German accent with an unusual southern draw, people would automatically connect with her. Selling was easy and very natural to her, so because of this she become one of Avon’s top saleswomen. With her newly discovered talent, she decided to move on to bigger things and go into Real Estate. With her sales skills honed it was an easy transition over to selling homes. She was so comfortable from her prior experiences that she would walk the neighborhoods around her home and knock on every single door. She knew everybody in town and quickly ranked at the top of her game. Everybody knew who that well-dressed woman with flaming red hair driving a Yellow Cadillac was.
Irene had a real zest for life in everything she did. In the late 70’s she found her other passion, Disco! Irene became the disco queen and was an incredible dancer. Even in her last bed ridden days if you played disco music she would sit up and start to boogie.
Most of all, Irene loved her family and instilled in her two son’s a good work ethic and strong Christian values. She loved all her many pets like they were her children. She watched funny pet YouTube videos and movies and even bought all the pets in the family Christmas stocking filled with puppy treats! She will be dearly missed and forever be in our hearts.
Irene is survived by her oldest son Paul Cargill Jr. with wife Carla Cargill and their children Austin and Avery. Also, her youngest son Kenneth Cargill with wife Tina Cargill, along with her one year old Pug, Sassy.
A special thanks go out to Tina Anderson who gave her the care she deserved in her last days.
