Tribute

Michael Ray Hargrave, 74, of Crosby, Texas, passed away with his loving children by his side on Saturday, January 16, 2021, in Kingwood, Texas. He was born on January 23, 1946, to the late F.A. “Pete” Hargrave and Dorothea “Maye” Sirocka Hargrave in Baytown, Texas. He graduated from Crosby High School in 1964 and went onto study at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. In his younger days he was a hard worker, making sure his family was very well taken care of. He retired as the Director of Technical Services from Kellogg Brown and Root in 2008 and consulted with them through 2010.

Mike was a person who pursued many interests, some of which included woodworking, fishing, hunting, watching re-runs of “Hillstreet Blues,” and traveling to various casinos to play video poker. Once he retired from KBR, Mike became a professional “Bink.” He loved to watch his grandkids participating in their various activities and rarely missed a game, dance contest, play, horse show, band concert, or any other family member’s event. You could always count on him being there.

Mike was a devoted family man. Family always came first no matter what the situation.  Mike was highly active in the Crosby community serving as a leader in the Chamber of Commerce, Crosby ISD School Board, and Crosby Volunteer Fire Department. He took great pride in community service and made sure to pass that along to his children and grandchildren.  He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many who knew him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law John Bollom and Gene Kilgore, and his beloved wife of 43 years, Beverly Ann Grabow Hargrave. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Scott Hargrave and wife Jamie of Crosby, Dianna Anderson and husband Bryan of The Woodlands; his grandchildren Lauren Mangum and husband Caleb of Crosby, Codi Hargrave of Crosby, Paige Anderson of Charleston, South Carolina, Nathan White of Mont Belvieu, and Cade Hargrave of Crosby, Texas, his great-grandson Mason Mangum, his sister Sydney Gay Bollom, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He also leaves behind his loving companion Cathy Jones and her family; Dana, Domingo, and Mykayla Bryant; and Kim, Jeremiah, Kelsey, and Kaitlynn Kraft. The love you all showed our dad in his later years is deeply appreciated.

In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions to be made in Mike’s honor to the Crosby Education Foundation, 333 Red Summit Dr, Crosby, Texas 77532, Paypal: PayPal.me/CrosbyEF, Venmo: Crosby Education-Foundation.
