Michael Harry Shrum

Michael Harry “Pappy” Shrum, 56, of Houston, Texas, passed away on December 1, 2020, in Houston with his family by his side. He was born on July 27, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Harry Clyde Shrum and Patsy Lee Bingham Shrum. Mike graduated from Channelview High School in 1982. Later, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Lamar University in 2013. Before his retirement, he worked as a truck driver for Dixie Chemical.

Mike was an outgoing person who pursued many interests, some of which included woodworking, motorcycles, cruising, making moonshine, and cooking anything from baking to barbequing. He was a very caring family oriented man. His family was his priority in life. Mike was full of life and never met a stranger. He was one that would go out of his way to help someone who needed it.

Mike was a loving husband, father, Pappy, brother, uncle and friend to many who knew him. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Randi Lee Houston; his nephew Coty Ray Shrum and his precious dogs Igby and Jake. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory, his beloved wife of 36 years Etta Shrum of Houston, Texas; his children Krissy Shrum of Houston, Texas, Michael Buda Shrum of Houston, Texas, Ericha Shrum of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren Mila Shrum of Liberty, Texas,  Mary-Lou Shrum of Houston, Texas, Averi Vines of Liberty, Texas, Chloe Swimmer of Houston, Texas; his brothers William Shrum and wife Christie of Huffman, Texas, Troy Donahue and wife Sherry of Dayton, Texas, Philip King and wife Sammi of Virginia, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
