Tribute

Norma Joyce Perry Wilson, 81, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020 in Baytown, Texas. She was born on April 17, 1939 to the late Elma Goudeau Perry and Murl Perry.

Norma attended E.O. Smith Jr High where she first met Henry “LaLa” Wilson.  They both later attended Wheatley High School and Texas Southern University.  They were married for 59 years, residing in Compton, California; Houston, Texas; and, later years in Highlands, Texas.  She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Highlands, Texas.

Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Murl Perry and Elma Goudeau Perry. Norma was survived by her loving husband Henry “La La”.  She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, her daughters Patrice Wilson Scott and Sharon Wilson Thompson; her granddaughters Sydney Scott and Cameryn Scott, her grandson Joshua Thompson; her siblings Diane Perry Lemond, Paul Perry (Maria), Agnes Perry, Ralph Perry (Geraldine), Veronica Perry McCalla (Wesley), Tommy Higgins; along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Norma lived a life of which revolved around her family.  She enjoyed sewing and dedicated most of her time to designing creations for her daughters, family and friends.  She loved decorating and preparing for the Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.  She spent much of her leisure time visiting fabric stores, antiques shops, flea markets and garage sales.  After her retirement from the Houston Independent School District, she shared her sewing skills with local charities by making clothing for children in underdeveloped countries.

Norma had many accomplishments to take pride in, but what brought her the most pride and joy was her family. She will be deeply missed not only as a mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt but also as a role model and pillar of our family. As she lived her life for her family, we are now blessed with our own guardian angel and she will live in our hearts forever.
