Rosetta Davis

November 28, 1939 ~ April 21, 2024 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Tribute

Rosetta Gardner Davis, 84, passed from this life on Sunday April 21, 2024, under the tender care of her daughters Kim and Cindy.  A beloved Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandmother who loved each person she met as if they were her own precious family.

Rosetta was born on a Tuesday, the 28th of November in 1939, to Stella Marie Freeman Gardner; she was raised by her Uncle, Johnnie Spencer Freeman, Aunt, Juanita Penelope Freeman Reid and Grandmother, Alice Francis Walker Freeman.

Rosetta had a passion for handwritten letters, she wrote to family, friends, and people of the world daily, telling them of life at home and information she had gathered throughout the day.  She kept everyone informed.  She could talk recipes every day of her life and often called her grandchildren to tell them of a new recipe that she had seen, or to ask for a recipe which she would then share with someone else.  Another of her daily goals was discussing the weather, there was not a day that went by in her later life that she didn’t gather a weather report to be shared with family.

Before retiring to the care of her family, Rosetta was an Adventurer traveling between Texas and California in search of family; before that, an elevator operator, book binder, clerk, caregiver, homemaker, wife & Mom.

Rosetta is survived by daughters Kimberly Hortman, Cindy Davis and husband Lynn Durbin, Michelle Miller and husband Russell.  Sister Carol McDaniel of California.  Ten grandchildren, and thirty plus great grandchildren.

A graveside remembrance will be held at Sterling-White Cemetery in Highlands at noon on Thursday, April 25, 2024.  Please bring a handwritten memory to share, we will happily read it for you.

In lieu of flowers, please send a handwritten letter to a loved one, or choose a nursing home, asking them to place it in the dining room or library.
