Suzanne (Caldwell) Wright

March 15, 1944 ~ January 14, 2023 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Suzanne Caldwell Wright, 78, beloved wife and mother, of Crosby Texas went to meet her Lord and Savior on January 14th, 2023. She was born in Poteau, OK on March 15, 1944, to Henry and Frances America (Derryberry) Caldwell. She graduated Poteau High School in 1962 where she was in the band and choir and performed as a majorette. Her love of music inspired her to pursue a Vocal Music Education major at Southeastern State College in Durant, OK, where she continued with choir, band and twirling. It was here that she met her beloved husband Ron Wright. She graduated in 1966, and was married to Ron on December 23 of that year.

Shortly after their wedding, Ron joined the Army and they travelled to Norfolk, and ultimately settled in San Antonio at Fort Sam Houston with the Fourth Army Band. It was here that Suzanne became a member of the Master Singers, the official chorus of the San Antonio Opera, where she performed as a coloratura soprano.

It was in San Antonio that Suzanne and Ron met their dearly loved “Bob Family” of Army Buddies that remained lifelong friends spending many holidays fishing, boating, camping and best of all cooking.

Suzanne spent the next several years raising her family, twins Heather and Debra and younger daughter Lynda, and supporting Ronnie in building his Bands in Anahuac, Conroe and Tomball and settling in Humble. Her love of children and music drew her into teaching elementary music first in Anahuac, then in the Woodlands, Tomball, Conroe and retired from teaching in Baytown. She wrote her own music programs, composed School Songs, and played a multitude of instruments.

She was deeply devoted to her faith, and shared her music talents with many of the churches they attended. She was Choir Director at Rosehill Methodist, Pianist for Deerbrook Baptist, directed many children’s choirs and for the last 20 years played keyboard for Crosby New Hope Baptist.

To Suzanne and Ron, family was the most important. Whether it was family road trips to Oklahoma, Holiday Feasts at Christmas, Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July, or pool parties with the grandkids, Suzanne would show her love and affection through song, hugs and laughter. Her abundance of love and adoration of song will resonate in our hearts forever.

Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Frances Caldwell, sister Lynda Gaither and brother Mike Caldwell. She is survived by husband, Ron, Daughters Heather Bayt (Robert), Debra Alexander (Todd), Lynda Kay Vinot (Alex), and grandchildren, Evan and Victoria Bayt, Brandon and Braxton Alexander, Sydney and twins Sadie and Sarah Vinot. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 20th at the Sterling White Funeral Center at 12pm, with Visitation from 10 am – 12 pm. Burial will follow at the Sterling White Cemetery.
